Today there are far more formats, and you&#8217;ll regularly see new &#8220;types&#8221; of results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s go through a few of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Answer boxes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer boxes are small blocks that briefly answer a user&#8217;s question. They appear above or alongside Google&#8217;s organic results, and the snippet is pulled from one of the top-ranking pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-1-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3720\" width=\"724\" height=\"567\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Video carousels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Video carousels contain videos related to the search query. They typically appear in organic results for news-relevant topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-3-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3724\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">People also ask (PAA)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;People also ask&#8221; (PAA) blocks show related questions that people commonly search for. But, as in our own case, it&#8217;s often the most cost-effective way to bring quality, targeted traffic to a site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organic search also matters a great deal to anyone publishing videos on YouTube, since Google often ranks YouTube videos in its video carousels and answer boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-6-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3730\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A video ranking in an answer box is also known as a featured video snippet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, getting your videos to rank on Google can often drive a lot of views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to rank higher in organic search results<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Higher organic rankings usually translate into more organic traffic to your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No one knows exactly how Google ranks web pages, but we do know some of the most important factors involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are just five of them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Backlinks<\/li><li>Relevance<\/li><li>HTTPS<\/li><li>Mobile-friendliness<\/li><li>Freshness<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Backlinks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One way search engines determine which sites are &#8220;better&#8221; is by analyzing backlinks. If an article has a large number of backlinks, people are more likely to consider it genuinely good. New content, on the other hand, likely has no backlinks yet, so it&#8217;s less likely to land in the top search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Backlinks aren&#8217;t the only thing that shapes your site&#8217;s ranking &#8212; there are plenty of other factors at play &#8212; but they remain one of the most important elements. The catch is that earning high-quality backlinks can take time, which pushes a lot of people to try to game the system using &#8220;black hat&#8221; tactics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"relevantnost\">Relevance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google has many ways of determining how relevant a page is. The simplest signal is whether your page contains &#8220;the same keywords as the search query.&#8221; But keyword mentions alone won&#8217;t help you rank higher in organic search if your page doesn&#8217;t match search intent &#8212; the underlying reason a user typed that query in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"https\">HTTPS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HTTPS encrypts all data exchanged between the user and the server to improve security. Now that Google has largely finished its move <a href=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/can-cheap-hosting-and-bad-environment-affect-the-indexing-of-the-site\/\">to mobile-first indexing,<\/a> it&#8217;s also become a ranking factor for most sites in desktop search as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"svezhest\">Freshness<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freshness is an interesting ranking factor because it&#8217;s a query-dependent signal. That means it matters more for some keywords than others, and that brings us right back to search intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take the keyword &#8220;web design trends.&#8221; Every result is recently published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-8-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3735\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s because freshness matters a lot for this keyword. New trends keep appearing constantly, so users are unlikely to be interested in a roundup from 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now let&#8217;s look at the results for &#8220;how to clean a carpet&#8221;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-9-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3737\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though some of these were published recently, some of the top organic results were published back in 2019 and 2021. That&#8217;s because freshness simply doesn&#8217;t matter here. The process of cleaning a carpet hasn&#8217;t changed in years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get more clicks from organic search?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ranking high on Google is the core of the search traffic formula, but you can drive more clicks by crafting compelling <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/ru\/title-tag-seo\/\">title tags<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/ru\/meta-opisanie\/\">meta descriptions<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ahrefs.com\/blog\/ru\/seo-friendly-urls\/\">URLs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the three things shown in a Google search result:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starosta-agency.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-10-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3739\"\/><figcaption>url; title; description<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best practices for title tags<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Keep it under 50-60 characters. <\/strong>Longer title tags get cut off in search results.<\/li><li><strong>Use sentence case, or title case if your page is in English. <\/strong>Never use all caps.<\/li><li><strong>Include your target keyword. <\/strong>But only when it fits naturally.<\/li><li><strong>Match search intent<\/strong>. Choose a framing that fits what the user is looking for.<\/li><li><strong>Highlight your content&#8217;s benefit. <\/strong>Tell users why your content is unique <em>(for example, instead of &#8220;How to Make an Apple Pie,&#8221; write &#8220;How to Make an Apple Pie <\/em><em><strong>in 20 Minutes<\/strong><\/em><em>&#8220;).<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Skip the clickbait. <\/strong>Be honest and don&#8217;t oversell it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best practices for meta descriptions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Expand on the title. <\/strong>Add details you didn&#8217;t have room for in the title.<\/li><li><strong>Match search intent. <\/strong>Keep an eye on what users actually care about.<\/li><li><strong>Use active voice. <\/strong>Speak to the user directly.<\/li><li><strong>Keep it under 120 characters. <\/strong>Meta description content also gets truncated.<\/li><li><strong>Include your target keyword. <\/strong>Again, only when it fits naturally.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best practices for writing URLs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Write them descriptively. <\/strong>Make it clear what the page is about.<\/li><li><strong>Keep them evergreen. <\/strong>Strip out unnecessary dates and numbers from the address.<\/li><li><strong>Avoid keyword repetition. <\/strong>It reads as spammy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want more people visiting your site month over month, you need to understand how you can influence organic search results and how to improve your rankings in Google search.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organic search is the free, unpaid traffic search engines send to relevant pages.
